Summer project Show and Tell, announcement of programs and Challenge Project reveal. October 4, 2024, Salida We anticipate discussion of last minute fashion show items will take up the majority of meeting time but local multimedia and photography artist Dania Pettus will present a trunk show of her embroidery work. No afternoon workshop. November 1, 2024, Salida The Felted Dog from Pueblo will present a program and afternoon workshop on needle felting. January 3, 2025, Buena Vista Mountain and Plains Fibershed will present a program on “Building a Localized Fiber Supply Chain”. Afternoon workshop: Peggy Barnholt will present a tie bag class. $30 class fee includes all materials and directions. February 7, 2025, Salida The Weaving Group will be presenting a program on what they like to weave. Several looms will be available for hands-on experience. No cost. March 7, 2025, Buena Vista A Dance with the Elements by Josefina Gordh Josefina Gordh, a fiber artist from Crestone, CO, will give a presentation on the artistic processes and inspiration she uses to create one of a kind scarves, clothing, and home goods. Nature is her primary source of inspiration, and the plants and animals found in Crestone bear the most influence on her artwork today. Once she understands the essence of her subject, Josefina designs and carves printing blocks, dyes her fabrics, prints and paints her motifs, and sews the finished piece. Fabrics include silk, linen, and velvet. Josefina will explain her various techniques and will bring some tools and printing blocks as well as samples of her work that will be for sale. No workshop in afternoon. April 4, 2025, Salida Diane Baker will do a presentation and afternoon workshop on Sashiko. This class is full. May 2, 2025, Buena Vista Challenge project Show and Tell—Create something inspired by an activity or interest you enjoy that is NOT fiber related! Examples: sports, cooking, traveling, music, gardening, etc. |
