Rock Day is an annual event for spinners, based on the January 7th traditional day for spinners and weavers to return to work after their time off for the 12 Days of Christmas. Spinners and all interested fiber folk come together for spinning, visiting, sharing information and having fun. Everyone is encouraged to come, even if they are not spinners.
Entry Fee: $8.00 to help cover the cost of renting the space. Bring a mug, brown bag lunch and a Grab Bag item ($10 - $15 value)
There is a vendor area (anyone may bring items to sell at no charge), a free table for giveaways, and a snack area for all those leftover Holiday goodies.
CHAFFEE ARTS OPEN AWARD SHOW

Chaffee Arts assists local artists in all mediums in promoting their art. Through their members they offer art education and sponsor exhibitions, contests and art collaborations.
Last year 70 artists from the 100 members of Chaffee Arts participated in the show with 14 artists selling their creations. The categories of art were wide and varied including paintings in Oil, Water Media/Watercolor, Acrylic, Mixed Media and Pastels/Drawing as well as a Photography category. In addition there were entries in the areas of Jewelry, Glass, Ceramics, Sculpture, Wood, Metal, Fiber and Printmaking. First, second and third place ribbons are awarded in each category by a renowned judge along with a Judge’s Award and the winners all receive a monetary award. Local businesses also choose Business Choice Awards from all the entries and there is a Best in Show and a People’s Choice Award as well. You don’t want to miss the KidzArt and the Boys and Girls corner display.

Date of Event: 1st Saturday morning in June Time: 9:00 am – Noon Location: On the front lawn of a member’s home in Salida
This is an annual sale where all HCFG members bring items from their stash that they would like to sell such as yarn, tools, magazines, fabric, knitting needles, buttons, and other fiber related items.
Watch for specifics 10 days to a week before the event in in the Yard Sale sections of The Mountain Mail and The Chaffee County Times.
HCFG BUENA VISTA LIBRARY DISPLAY:
Date of Event: Usually July or August Time: Library hours for one month
The display consists of recent fiber art items created by the membership during the past two years.
THE SALIDA FIBER FESTIVAL
The Salida Fiber Festival, first held in 2012, takes place in Riverside Park in Salida and is a two day event held the weekend following Labor Day in September. This event typically features around 60 vendors from all over the West. The festival also has an activity tent for children young and old, demonstrations both in a set-aside tent and at vendors’ booths, three silent auctions and three pop-up fashion shows during the weekend, a fiber art exhibition at the SteamPlant, a beer garden featuring locally made libations, a Colorway Contest, and an Instagram booth. Organized by an all-volunteer committee, the festival is always looking for volunteers to help the weekend of the festival and throughout the year on the committee.

HCFG ANNUAL OCTOBER BRUNCH/LUNCHEON, FASHION SHOW & BOUTIQUE
Date: Wednesday in mid-October Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Location: Salida Steam Plant Event Center, 220 W. Sackett Ave, Salida, CO
This event is the highlight of the year. Food, drinks, door prizes, table gifts and good visiting are all part of this annual celebration of accomplishments. The program features a Fashion Show of original fiber art items made by the members of the Guild consisting of garments, bags and accessories that they have created throughout the year. As the models display these fiber art items, an MC describes the items and the members’ inspiration behind its creation, some of which may be for sale in the Boutique. Both before and after the meal and Fashion Show, the Boutique is open to all attendees for some early holiday shopping for themselves or others.
